I'm thinking in replacing my AMD FX 8320 processor and I'm currently interested in the Intel i5 6600k but since my motherboard is a little old I'm not sure if this processor is compatible, I would like to be sure before buying it, has someone used this combination before? Thanks.

Not compatible .. you have to get a board with z170 chip-set for example Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7 is a very good board

Unfortunately, they are not compatible. The i5 6600K is an Intel processor which runs on LGA1151 socket while the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 is an AM3+ socket which works with AMD CPUs. If you are looking for a motherboard for the i5 6600K, try to get a motherboard with the Z170 Chipset as the Intel Core i5 6600K is an unlocked CPU (you can overclock it easily) and (mostly) only the Z170 Chipset allows for overclocking.
