keyboard and mouse backlights wont turn off

I have an alienware x51 r3 liquid cooled pc that i recently purchased. I also purchased a backlit keyboard and mouse combo off amazon. When i turn the pc off the keyboard and mouse lights do not shut off. Is it some kind of feature to disable this?

The problem's common with most budget-type KB/Mouse combo's out there.

Best you can do is get a USB splitter (plug the keyboard and mouse in) and plug into the front of the case, and unplug the splitter when you don't want the light.
