Hello

I recently finished building my new computer but I have been stuck at 4.4Ghz on a 6600k.

Computer specs are:
Motherboard: Msi z170 tomahawk
Cpu: intel 6600k
Cpu cooler: Corsair H80i
Ram: Kington HyperX Savage DDR4 2133
PSU: Corsair RMi 650W Modular
Case: Bitfenix Shinobi XL window
HDD: WD Black 1TB
Gpu: Intel HD 530 (for now)

in case this helps

So this is what happened, I started the overclock at a 4.5Ghz without changing the voltage. The computer booted as normal and so I began testing the cpu using Aida64. After 2 seconds the computer gives me a blue screen so I decide to go back into the bios and change my voltage. I changed the voltage to 1.345 at 4.5GHz. Windows starts up normally again and o try Aida64. As soon as I click on the start button the computer freezes and gives me a blue screen again. So this time a do some research and I find that some people are changing the voltage to 1.375 and it seams to work. So i change my voltage to 1.375v at 4.5GHz. Windows starts up as normal and so I test it again with Aida64. This time the computer runs for a few minutes and it seams stable but then it ended up giving me a blue screen. So at this point i decide to lower my clock speed to 4.4Ghz. At this speed it seams to be very stable at a 1.335v which I find a lot comparing to some other 6600k doing 4.5Ghz at 1.3v.

*my bios hasn't been updated* will updating it make a difference?

So, is it possible that because I am using Intel HD 530 the CPU won't get a stable overclock at 4.5Ghz?

This is what I have tested.

4.5ghz - 1.345 - Fail
4.5ghz - 1.350 - Fail
4.5ghz - 1.375 - Fail

4.4Ghz - 1.345 - pass (temp 61max)
4.4Ghz - 1.340 - pass
4.4Ghz - 1.335 - pass

Thanks in advance!!

Could be the CPU, could be your motherboard. A Bios update might help. I have mine clocked at 4.4 with 1.27 vcore. It will go higher if I push the vcore past 1.4, but since I'm on air, I think I'll just live with it. Intel says the max vcore for our CPU's is 1.52, but I wouldn't want to try it or recommend that for a 24/7 OC. If your chip is content at 4.4, try backing the vcore down and see how low you can get it while remaining stable.

Yes, I will be decreasing the vcore to see how low I can get. But I really wonder if by using the Intel HD 530 GPU if that could affect my overclock.
At this moment I don't have a GPU because I'm waiting for the new pascal gpus.

Will adding a gpu relief my cpu and allow it to overclock better?
