Hello

I am going to buy a laptop, but iam stuck between getting a new laptop and a second hand. I want to play the game 'Football Manager' on the go (train, Hotels etc).

As iam to understand the game is literally all CPU usage. So for 'single thread performance' what offers better an old i5 or a new pentium,

There seems to be no information on this on the web. Have the Pentium's (15w) become powerful enough that they are now as good as the old i5/i3 rocking 30/45w?

(i Understand that certain Wattage/TDP of a processor can make a massive difference)

Thank you

Solution
I'm not the most vested in laptops, but I would still go for the i5. It has a higher TDP and should be better at multi-tasking, along with skylake not bringing much to the table except new memory in laptops.

I currently have an old laptop using an AMD processor from 45nm era. Sounds like a Jet turbine when running the game (however has no problems playing the game its just sounds awful)

So really i know mostly any processor can play the game, i just want one that wont overheat/play silently.

I can get an old i5 laptop for about £170 second hand.
But a terrible Pentium quadcore SOC for £300

Just doesnt seem worth it so i think ill get the i5

Thanks
