I recently decided to buy a new graphics card and I went for the GTX 970 but when I installed it into the computer everything runs fine, So the first thing I tried to do was run a benchmark see how things go, instantly shuts down at about 1 second into the benchmark. I tried it with something else, The witcher 3, same thing. I managed to updated the drivers for the card when I installed it and it went through fine, the computer recognises it being there.

My specs

Windows 7
GTX 970 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P7337YG
AMD Phenom II X6 1050T
6GB RAM
ASRock K10n78 - motherboard
PSU 600w - (not sure on the brand - sorry!)

If there is any other information you need let me know.

Well if I do swap it out is there anything you recommend, Should I get anything more than 500w like the card suggests?

The card I had previous was the 750 ti and I had it running about 30 minutes before I installed this one, I was playing a game using that at the time with no problems.

Then I do suspect the power supply. I would recommend running the benchmark again with the 750Ti installed, just to make sure it doesn't crash. If it doesn't, then I'd look at replacing the power supply with a better unit (in the 550-650 watt range).

I ran the benchmark with the 970 again on the lowest possible settings including resolution, worked fine. As soon as I upped the resolution it shut itself off. I put the 750 ti back in and it worked fine computer stayed on. It seems you might be right the PSU might not be giving enough power output for the whole system.
