Hey there everyone! Today I just picked up a brand new 1440p 144hz ASUS ROG Swift and a triple monitor stand so I can finally have my battle-station setup that I've been wanting for quite a while. With this new monitor though I know it is going to be pulling a good bit more resources from my hardware and I'm struggling to keep above 60fps in some of my favorite games on decent quality. I play a lot of early access titles which are not well optimized for my setup since I'm running SLI with some fairly old cards. I have not kept up with the times and all the new hardware that has come out and what not so I'm hoping that some of you around here would be able to share some of your knowledge as to what I should upgrade in terms of priority like CPU + Mobo + RAM or GPU, etc... I'm having a tough time trying to find the bottle-neck in my system and I've spent so much money recently just on my peripherals that it is time to show my hardware some love.

Are my two EVGA GTX 680's 4gb VRAM in SLI beyond the times with 1440p gaming? I haven't really looked into hardcore game tweaking as I've seen people say with a single (maybe SLI) 680 they've been getting settings higher than mine and higher frame-rates. I feel like I've never really got the most out of my cards as they've seemed to be pretty slow to what everyone else says about them. Anyways, I'm looking at getting a 980 ti to hold me off until Pascal arrives to see what it has to offer. I'm curious though, if I was to get a 980 ti should that do the trick for my new 1440p 144hz monitor? I'll only be playing games on it and not via Nvidia surround. Also my final question, will any other hardware in my rig bottle-neck the 980 ti if that is what you all suggest that I end up getting?

*Also, what would be the best 980 ti to get? I've only had EVGA products but I'm not sure if there is anyone else out there offering better deals.

Specs:
CPU: Intel i7 3770k
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 212 EVO
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming
Memory: 4x4gb Corsair Vengence DDR3
Storage: 1TB Western Digital Black, OCZ Vertex 460A 240gb
Video Card: 2x EVGA GTX 680 4gb VRAM Editions
Power Supply: MKIII Silencer 750w
Case: NZXT Switch 810
Monitors: x1 ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q, x1 ASUS VG248QE, x1ASUS VE248H 24in, x1 32in HDTV
Headphones: Sennheiser 363D
Sound Card: ASUS Xonar DX
OS: Windows 10 x64 Pro
Keyboard: Roccat RYOS MK Pro
Mouse: Razer NAGA 2014
Webcam: Logitech C920

*Following the "How to ask for advice about choosing a new GPU thread"
I play a lot of AAA games that release to early access games which are mainly shooters/survival. Frame-rate to me is a big deal and I'm willing to sacrifice some visuals to reach a high fps in order to take advantage of my 144hz monitor. Some games I play: Rust, Battlefront, BF4, CoD, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, GTA V, and the list goes on.

As far as websites I'm willing to buy off of I do a lot of price searching to avoid being taxed in my area since I have a Newegg and Amazon warehouse in my city. (Memphis, TN)

I really appreciate any feedback that you can provide me with! Thanks so much :)

Currently the 980ti is your best bet, but if i were you id just lower a few settings and wait a couple months for Pascal. I run 2 4gb 770s (basically rebadged ocd 680s) and have almost pulled the trigger on a 980ti a couple of times but with Pascals release so close i decided to save my money for the next gen. But if you really want to upgrade now the 980ti is the best option.

You mentioned "with Pascals release so close" When is it coming out as I thought it was going to be near the end of the year from some other thread via tomshardware?

Your GTX 680s in SLI are comparable to the GTX 690 in this chart. A single GTX 980 is not going to be a worthwhile upgrade. Your best bet will be a custom GTX 980 Ti, which would be at the top of this chart at about 110% or so.

Well glad to know that my CPU, Mobo, and RAM seem like they can keep up! I'll be grabbing myself a 980ti and then see what Pascal has to offer once it releases.

Would anyone know of a good place to find an estimate of what I could sell my EVGA GTX 680's 4gb VRAM cards for and where? Appreciate it :) Thanks for all the helpful suggestions all!

Actually now that I think about it to add to this, when I get the EVGA GTX 980ti I should be able to use the EVGA step up plan correct? So I could just pay the difference between the 980ti and whatever pascal card releases within a certain time.

Alright sweet, I wasn't sure if Ebay was still the best way to sell or not. The only time I've sold an item with them was a 2gb EVGA GTX 680 which I got screwed for about 6 months since the seller claimed the unit was faulty which I fought and he ended up losing because he never responded nor shipped it back so I have about $400 floating around for that entire time. Haven't done anything with ebay since then (about two years or so ago).

Last time i sold a laptop on ebay 2 weeks after receiving it he tried to refute the charge. Which i thought was funny since he signed for it (sent with signature required for delivery) and even left feedback. I was covered by seller protection so it didn't cost me anything.

I appreciate all the above answers! I'll keep an eye on Ebay and see what I can list it for via Craigslist, I'll probably keep it low since I'd prefer to sell locally. You guys are awesome :) +rep for all of you helping me out

If anyone was curious what 980ti I'm planning on getting I'll be picking up the EVGA GTX 980ti Hybrid. Fingers crossed that Pascal will come out in less than 3 months after buying the card so I can use the step-up program from EVGA.
