MB: MSI 760gm-p34fx Desk top PC
windows 7 64 bit
had: G.Skill F3-12800CL9S-4GBAL DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4096MBX1 CL9-9-9-24 1.5V
add: G.Skill F3-12800CL9S-4GBAL DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4096MBX1 CL9-9-9-24 1.5V

went from 4gm to 8gm memory. I made sure I discharged all static before upgrade. I get one beep on start up before windows loads up as the screen is blank and has the cursor in upper left corner blinking. Not a long beep but a short one. Is that dram refresh failure and if so what do I do about that. Not sure what that means. The PC was bought several years ago from an guy selling it. He made it himself. I know nothing about memory volts or settings. But I thought all you needed to do was add the memory into the slot. The MB has 2 slots, one was already used and I added exact same memory to make sure all was good to 2nd slot. The PC now takes a few more mins to start up then when I try to run Google it takes awhile to start up and if I request something it says waiting for cache then processing request several times. Skyrim on steam locks up and trying to shut down pc looks likes it locks up for several mins before it processes the command.

If anyone can offer some advice I sure would appreciate it but please keep suggestions simple not assuming I know how to process the advice without step by step instructions.

Solution
It may help them work together, there's no guarantees when mixing DRAM from different packages, those in a packages were tested to work/play nice

I took the new memory out and booted up again and everything ran like it did before I added the memory. I think switched the old with the new memory and still everything runs like it should. I did notice every time I boot up I get that single beep but from what I can find that is suppose to give a short beep on start up saying everything is okay. I just seem to have the issues when I have both memories installed.

Start with 1 stick, go into BIOS and raise the DRAM voltage + 0.05, save, exit, shutdown then add the new stick, might be they just don't want to play, best to get all you need in a single package, then are assured they are tested to play nice with each other ;)

so increasing the dram volts will force both to work together? I'll give that a try. If I increase the volts then do I need to increase something else alone with that? How high can I go until its unsafe? Will the PC burn out if I go too high or will it just shut down until it cools off?
