My cursor moves down when I use it quickly going left and right. It has happened on 2 of mice and Ive tried it on 3 mouse mats. I play video games like Counter Strike so i need quick left and right movements but this down motion happens with it. It also happens on my desktop so it is not in-game problems.

I had sometimes (ok, seldom) randomly moving mouse cursor. I am not sure, but I think it have something todo with low dpi of mouse and laser tracking. If you are curious about CS gaming, then try a very accurate and high dpi mouse and if you want, even an optical mouse. If the cursor gets too fast with high dpi, then you can slowdown ingame or in mouse settings. Higher dpi means, more accurate on faster movements. This is just my bet. If you have high quality mices, then forget this.

Yeah the thing is I have a Razer mouse with a 6400 dpi on it

Go to the windows control panel and in the mouse settings. Set the speed right in the middle. There are 11 lines I think so put it at 5. That will be 1:1 tracking.

Any slower and windows will not move the cursor as you move the mouse then it jumps. Faster and windows will move the cursor several pixels with every movement of the mouse. That's how windows artificially sets the speed of the mouse. Set it in the middle for true 1:1 pixel tracking.

Now go in the razer software for your mouse and adjust the DPI to suit your desired speeds. that will adjust the speed on the little computer hiding inside the mouse. It'll probably be around 1500 or so, more or less depending on your style. Now you realize that a mouse advertised as 9600DPI best in the world is just a bunch of crap since you're only going to use it at 1500 or so anyways.

Start with that and see how you make out. Most pro gamers in the world are in the 1500-2000DPI range. A good gaming mouse is good because you can adjust the DPI on the hardware side without having to resort to Windows virtual speed settings. Also it's widely accepted that optical mice have better tracking than laser mice.

This did not work for me, I have already got it on 5/11 and I use 1800 dpi.

Good laser mouse is not worse than optical for normal gamers. But actual optical systems can't be wrong for gaming in any case.

For mouse settings, search the web for different good starting points, something phrases like "CS:GO mouse settings" (I assume you play Global Offensive). Also make sure to set option ingame for ignoring Windows settings. Then it should only use mouse driver and ingame setting only. Set it to your liking, but if you like slow movements, then use high dpi anyway and slowdown with ingame setting. The high dpi will ensure accuracy. For getting slower mouse movements, you could also decrease dpi, but then it will get less accurate. So its better to use ingames speed setting. Mine is ingame at "1" or "1.07" and mouse at dpi 2800, but slowest speed setting in mouse driver settings (Roccat Kone XTD Laser).

Edit: Oh while I was typing, you already said it wouldn't help you.

The problem is it also happens on my desktop and other games. Its no problem with my games or mouse I assume it is some settings or system problem.

Hey there, the same issue you speak of is also happening to me. It seems to be more pronounced when i use longer strokes left and right. 5 swipes (right -> left -> middle) over a mouse pad of 50 cm/20 inches and after i complete them the cursor on screen has moved down 6.35 cm/2.5 inches.

Were you ever able to find a solution or is this a common occurance that I may not have been awawre of?

Thanks

It could be something known as negative acceleration. If your DPI setting in your mouse drivers is too high and higher then the DPI resolution of your monitor you'll get weird stuff happening with the cursor known as negative acceleration. This happens when you're in a game and try to spin left to right and the cursor will move up or down. The solution is to lower the DPI in your mouse drivers and see if this resolves your problem. If this works then just adjust your DPI accordingly for the speed you want. Also disable Mouse acceleration in the game. Other than that the only thing I can think of is the mouse not being calibrated for your mouse pad. Also make sure you're polling rate is set to a 1000hz. It could also have something to do with lift off distance which sone mice have it adjustable. Other than all these things it's probably just a bad sensor or drivers which some models of mice are just notorious for bad sensors and drivers.

Ok, thanks for the information. It doesn't seem to be the DPI because I run it at 800 out of a maximum of 12000 its the Logitech G502. I also tested at 400 and the same problem occurs. This also does not just happen in game. I also tried tried to re calibrate with different mouse surfaces, no avail. The one thing i find suspicious is that when i hold the mouse wheel steady and shake i can hear a slight rattle.

Other than that I think I may have just come upon a lemon. Does anyone know of any other gaming mice that don't have this issue?

Thanks for you time
