Mystery of the Power Supply, Connectors, and Motherboard

I made my first custom PC. After a couple weeks I went to turn it on and it wouldn't power on at all. The LED to the motherboard wasn't on, no fans, nothing. I read about a million threads, but none solved the problem. I've checked the power supply with the paper clip test and it works (I know that isn't a perfect indicator but still). I've also tried shorting the pins on the MB to see if it's the power button or connector's fault. That did nothing. I know the chances are high from what I've read that it's the motherboard, but before I go buy a new one, is there anything else that could possibly be the problem? Could the CPU also be damaged by whatever problem happened to the motherboard? Unfortunately, i have no other PCs or friends with PCs to test parts without going to the store which is far away. Thanks in advance!

i5 4690 , ASROCK H97m ITX , and a Bronze 600 W. Not sure the type, I'll go check. Yeah I might just have to fork up the 100 dollar diagnostic fee and head over to the computer store...It's just that with 100 bucks I can buy a new motherboard.
