PC had been having a problem for some time, would crash when playing games, sometimes it would last longer than others, up to over an hour, sometimes only 30 minutes. How heavy the graphics were didnt matter all that much it seemed. I just upgraded the video card and now it happens nearly instantly, may last a minute in before the crash. Tested different power supply (different unit but same brand and wattage), tested all ram through mem test and even stuck in new ram. Attempted to run with all other cards out other than the video card, monitored temps for cpu and even bought new cpu fan and reapplied thermal paste. I can't seem to solve the problem other than to say its simply a bad motherboard... Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Motherboard: MSI X58 Pro-E
CPU: Intel LGA 1366 i7 920
Current Video Card: MSI R9 390
Previous Video Card: Nvidia GTX 560
Power Supply: Xion 700 Watt
Ram: 3 x 4GB G.skill Ripjaw + 3 x 2GB Corsair XMS3

Other cards: TP-Link Wireless Network Card, Sound blaster Audigy

I'm stumped and rather not buy a new motherboard and cpu set...

Solution
Did you uninstall the graphics driver correctly?

Try this. Download ddu and select nvidia. Select clean and and restart.

Now do this. Use ddu and select amd. Select clean and shut down. Then take the gpu out of the pci slot and check for dust, reseat the card firmly, make sure all the wires are secured, etc. Then boot, go to amd's website and download a fresh set of the latest drivers and install.
