Hello guys, I want to build a new PC because my laptop can`t run almost anything. I alredy make a build and I want to ask you for best GPU for this rig. I can`t decide between Sapphire NITRO Radeon R9 380X and MSI R9 380 Gaming 2G. In my country (Slovakia) is R9 380 40€ cheaper (210€) than R9 380X (250€). My question is - Will I really need 4GB VRAM for 1080p gaming ?
Or I can get 2GB 380 and it can have decent performance for at least 2 years (high settings and 30+ FPS) ? Will be 2GB VRAM enough ? Or if you have another proposal for GPU with approximately same performance I`ll appriciate it.

(MOBO) ASRock H110M-DVS/D3
(CPU) Intel i3 6100 125.04€
(GPU) Sapphire Radeon NITRO R9 380X 4G GDDR5 (MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2G)
(RAM) Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 8GB 1600MHz
(HDD) Seagate Barracuda 1TB
(PSU) Seasonic 500ET T3
VALUELINE 230V 2m
(CASE) Zalman Z3

I also want to ask you which PSU I should take. This Seasonic or EVGA 500B 80+ BRONZE ?
I think it`s good to mention what I want do on this PC. I want to play games on high settings (it won`t have to be ultra) and make 3D games in UE4.

Sorry if I have some grammar mistakes here but english isn`t my national language.

The R9 cards are highly overclocked and will need more than 500w.
Here is a chart:
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm

At 1080P, the more efficient GTX970 will run on 500w and play virtually any game well at 1080P.

Seasonic is always a safe psu pick.
I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

FWIW.
I will never again build without a ssd for the "C" drive. It makes everything you do much quicker.
120gb is minimum, it will hold the os and a handful of games. If you can go 240gb, you may never need a hard drive.

I would defer on the...

Nobody can tell what will happen during the next 2 years. However, 2GB is enough for 1080p gaming in most cases. Games like Shadow of Mordor or modded Skyrim will easily wreck those 2 gigs though, so I guess it all comes down to what games you play. As for the PSU, you should probably go with EVGA, but I'm not that experienced with those so I might be completely wrong in that regard.

I want to play Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, Far Cry 4, GTA V, CoD: AW and BO3 and probably Mad Max and Fallout 4. From these what will be released this year I want to play DE: Mankind Divided, Mass Effect: Andromeda and if the the Ubisoft release Watch Dogs 2 than I`ll be really happy if I can play it. Same with the Cyberpunk 2077. Of course if some good game come to PC this year I`ll want to play it actually. But as I wrote before I want to have enough performance for UE4 editor and all of these graphical programs like Blender, 3DS Max, Maya... and the texturing softwares.

I know the Quadro GPUs are much more better for graphical softwares but I don`t have money for it. I think the r9 380 and 380X don`t have big difference between each other and the 40€ is too much for only 9% better performance BUT if 4gigs are better it`s better to buy 380X because price of 4GB version of 380 is around 240€. On the other side, if the upgrade will be neccesery it will be same for 380 or 380X. I`ll still need to upgrade to some 350-400€ GPU. Only question is, which card will request upgrade sooner.

I would defer on the hard drive unless you need to store large files such as video's.
It is easy to add a hard drive later.
Samsung EVO is a good choice.
Intel 730 is OK too.

VRAM has become a marketing issue.
My understanding is that vram is more of a performance issue than a functional issue.
A game needs to have most of the data in vram that it uses most of the time.
Somewhat like real ram.
If a game needs something not in vram, it needs to get it across the pcie boundary
hopefully from real ram and hopefully not from a hard drive.
It is not informative to know to what level the available vram is filled.
Possibly much of what is there is not needed.
What is not known is the rate of vram exchange.
Vram is managed by the Graphics card driver, and by the game. There may be differences in effectiveness between amd and nvidia cards.
And differences between games.
Here is an older performance test comparing 2gb with 4gb vram.
http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Video-Card-Performance-2GB-vs-4GB-Memory-154/
Spoiler... not a significant difference.
And... no game maker wants to limit their market by
requiring huge amounts of vram. The vram you see will be appropriate to the particular card.

Thanks for explanation, but what GPU should I take then ? I was thinking about GTX 960 too but the important thing is - Is the 4GB VRAM for this kind of GPUs only marketing trick ? Or it has reason to buy it. Can it be good with only 2GB in this times ? On the most of forums people told the games will need this 4GB in future. I can buy GTX 960 if it`s better choice for my build and my requirements. What you`re recommending me ?
