Hello guys, I'm looking for a new pair of headphones.
I already have an eye on one, but that's not my question here.

I have an "FM2A88X Extreme6+" motherboard.
It comes with 7.1 integrated in it.

I have a few questions:
Do I need to get a 5.1 (or 7.1) gaming headset to be able to fully utilize it?
Or is it something that comes into play only when using surround-sound speakers?
How will a stereo headset work with it?

Any reply is appreciated.

Basically, anything below and up to 7.1 will work with your motherboard. Even a mono set will work.

Keep in mind that X.1 refers to X speakers and 1 subwoofer. While 7.1 headphones do actually have that setup, they're still giving you that experience from locations very close together.

While 7.1 can give you a better experience than 5.1, a great 5.1 set are better than an OK 7.1 set.

For great sound, quality trumps quantity.
