So I`m thinking of buying an AMD FX-8320 because it costs really low and people say its good. My GPU is GTX 560 Ti and I`m wondering if it will fit well with the FX 8320. And is it worth saving money for few more months for an Intel i5 CPU? Because in my opionien I don´t think that I will notice any change between them since my GPU is pretty outdated by now. Right now I can buy the FX 8320+ a motherboard for it. Is it worth it? I will play Battlefield 3/4 and CS:GO e.t.c some other games

If you look on here, http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
you will see that an 8320 is slightly better than an i5.
So if you are using all it's 8 cores to the max, an AMD is slightly better than an i5 running full out on 4 cores.
BUT, For single threaded applications (which use only one core) the intel is literally twice as quick as the AMD

Unfortunately for AMD, no games use more than 4 cores

I only recommend AMD 8320 for video rendering work.
For gaming an intel i5 is much better,

(because games only use 4 of the 8 cores on the AMD, and each intel core is more than twice as powerful as each AMD core)

If you run the 560ti with that cpu you would be fine. If higher end gpu comes in hand there will be noticable bottlenecks in certain new games that is cpu intense. I dont see a problem though buying that with your current graphics card. Go for it mate! And good luck!

Sucks to hear, but intel is so expensive. On ebay a used i5 3570k without a fan is the same price as an FX 8320 New with 3 year garanti +fans e.t.c :(

It will of course perform better but there wont be bottlenecks with that gpu. And secondly the price per performance is so much better if you chose the fx-8320. Decision is up to the owner of this topic, good luck with whatever you choose. Another tip, dont buy used cpus/gpus.

What AMD motherboard?

Short term, an AMD is the cheaper option,
But longer term, you will need to upgrade it.
Other downside is the 8320 needs lots of power and produces lots of heat.

If you save up for an i5, it should last you 5-6 years before you need to replace it.
And mine is running 4.2Ghz off a 500W power supply with the stock cooler!

BTW, a 3570k is not a bad option - only a few % slower than a newer i5.

Then you know that it can't support the FX-8320: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/960GM-VGS3%20FX/?cat=CPU You need a much better and more expensive motherboard for that CPU. Look at the poor VRM; it will throttle the CPU to 1.4 GHz or bust in flames.
