MacBook Hard Drive Issues

Hello there. I have myself a 2014 Macbook. It originally came with a 500gb hard drive and an optical drive. I opted to removed the optical drive and put the hard drive there and an SSD where the optical drive was. It worked perfectly fine for a few months. However, oneday the hard drive failed to boot up. and i heard some clicking sounds from the hard drive. My Bootcamp hard drive can access the files, but i cant open any large files. Even copy and pasting small files like picutres or PDFS takes quite a bit of time. It's fastest speed i saw was 1.36mb per second. But its usually no faster than a couple hundred Kbps.

I used this hard drive to back up my iPhone and school work. Im okay with buying a new hard drive. I don't have warranty anymore becuase i opened it. But i know the hard drive is the one with issues. I have connected it to other computers and an external hard drive and have similiar issues. My windows computer doesnt even recognize it most of the time. and when it does it will not even open. the external hard drive just resets over and over. So i cant take any of the files out. But another MacBook hard drive i have works just fine in there. Im not sure what to do. I want to save all my data but im not sure how to save it . Especially since bigger files refuse to be transfered. Any advice?

Solution
It is unfortunate it had to come to this, but it really sounds like the most viable option right now.

I hope that you're able to get all your files back! Fingers crossed!
Hi MarcosaurusRex.

It really sounds like the drive is on it's way to fail. If the data is really important to you, I'd suggest that you go for a professional solution, such as a data recovery company. On the other hand you could try out data recovery software with your Macbook, to see if you have any luck with that, bit it sounds like it might not do the trick if you're having trouble just copy-pasting files from the HDD.
As for the Windows computer not being able to access the drive, it is completely normal if the drive has been formatted with a files system native to Mac OSX (e.g. HFS+). Those files systems are not supported by Windows, therefore the OS can't access the partitions.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the help. You did the best to help me. But i am afraid i have lost all my files, until i take it to a recovery expert. Though that wont be an immediate solution. The cost of simply doing that is holding me back, and will do so for a while. Thank you.
