Why is the Sapphire R9 270x so expensive?

I have an old Sapphire Dual-X R9 270x 2GB lying around doing absolutely nothing, so I searched to see how much it's now going for to maybe sell. Amazon has it for 290 USD new, average $210 used. I bought mine two years ago (2014) for only $100. I was just wondering, why are the prices so high for an old, outdated card nowadays, and should I sell mine today to make some profit?

Amazon is not a good reference for used GPU prices. Just because it's listed for that much doesn't mean there is someone that will be dumb enough to pay it. You would have a better idea of what they are selling for on eBay. Especially since I paid $299.99 for a R9 390 not long ago.

Looks like used 270X's on eBay go for about $140.00

a combination of no knowledge + advice from people with no knowledge

people selling 290x's and buying gtx 960's for example
