Hey everyone,

Has anyone experienced not being able to use HDMI to TV recently, perhaps since the last update or two for radeon cards? I've used my computer for watching movies with my LG 50" Plasma TV for the past 2 1/2 years, I haven't for a couple of months now but decided to do so this weekend except this time around my computer is not detecting the TV. I've tried two brand new cables (both 12' long) and the first one will get the notification sound that the computer has detected something new but thats as far as things have gone.

I've tried the cables with my PS3 and it works perfectly fine, but if connected to my computer, I'm getting absolutely nothing.

Radeon HD 7970, Software Version 15.12, Windows 7

Possibly its the driver or how it now initializes HDMI in the new driver version, it could be buggy. Perhaps try (Im guessing you have a monitor connected as well?) booting up with only the TV connected.

I don't think its the TV, your PS3 works fine on it.

Maybe even try setting your Hz to 50 before booting up only on TV.

Just for the sake of testing, move PC closer to TV and try a shorter HDMI cable. What cable were you using? You said you bought two new HDMI cables, could it be possible both cables are too long for that brand/quality of cable? Your console could be producing a stronger signal and might be a reason why that works and not the GPU in the PC.

Leaving HDMI disconnected while uninstalling/reinstalling drivers may have an effect.

Use Display Driver Uninstaller: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/

I have done that, I test each time with the HDMI cable I use with my PS3 (same one I use to use) and never seems to work anymore either, its probably a 4' cable.

The two cables I have bought are both HDMI with Ethernet, and one of them is also 4K Ultra HD Compatible.

I disconnected the HDMI cable, ran the driver uninstaller and then re-installed the 14.4 drivers, still no luck.

Hey everyone, seems the problem lies with the video card itself. I dug out my Desktop tablet that I always used to plug into the same HDMI port on my computer when I used it, and even that was not recognized when it was connected. Sad to say, it looks like the port itself no longer works for some strange reason.

To confirm it, I had two weekends ago, formatted my computer and installed Windows 10, and, nothing. Only see's my 3 monitors. :(

I'm going to put it down to a shared video port that is your problem. What confuses me is you're making out that you've had a setup consisting of 3 displays + TV for over 2 years that trying only the TV (HDMI with nothing else connected to the card) as i suggested should have worked/showed something on your TV.

Couldn't find a manual for your card to confirm my suspicion but this thread kind of does. It appears that one of your DVI ports (Most likely DVI-I with the 4 prongs) is shared with the HDMI port.

My guess is you may need an active adapter for the DVI-I to allow the TDMS Transmitter enough power to send a signal also through HDMI whilst this DVI port is being used.

If you still get nothing on the TV with 'only' HDMI connected to the card then i don't know. Could try a DVI-D to HDMI adapter.

No thats right. I've ran with 3 monitors for many years, including before this Video Card, and have had my TV connected off and on. Up till the Fall my desktop Tablet was permanently connected as well to the video card starting January 2015 (used it for art and 3D modeling painting) So, in total, I normally have 4 devices connected at any given time; but in my old place my TV sat in the living room so once and awhile I'd lug my tower out there and connect just the TV, then bring it back to my room and reconnect the monitors and Desktop tablet.

If I were able to upload photo's I'd show you. lol :)
