Here is my spec:
i7 6700
gigabyte z170-d3h
32gb gskill ddr4 3000mhz cas 15

By default it runs on 2133 mhz, when I turn on the XMP, boot fails. I know nothing about OC but I want to get the best out of what I've got.

Solution
Yep it is new, can also use the BCLK method even on K models, it's a little more involved than the simple raise the multiplier but works well. This was the OC method prior to the K models :)

You indicate a 6700, to confirm this is a non-K model CPU? If so may want to try at 2800 or lower, your individual CPU (actually the MC (memory controller) in the CPU) may not be strong enough for 3000 sticks. Could try boosting the DRAM voltage + 0.05 with XMP enabled or drop the data rate and timings on the DRAM, initially would try 2800 at same timings

I was on the search yesterday and i came across this OC for non-K:

I push the i7 6700 3.4ghz to 4.4 ghz, and ram bus to nearly 2800, it seems stable now after a few adjustments. What do you think about this? seems a little bit new with non-K OC
