Hi all,

I have a Linksys WRT54GL (only a couple years old) that has been working pretty well until today. I was changing out some outlets so I turned the breakers off in the room I was working in (that has my modem and router plugged in as well). I had turned the breakers on and off a few times to check my outlets, but never looked at my router.

Now I come back a few hours later and realize that my wifi wasn't working. Router Wireless light is OFF. (power and internet lights are ON) So now I look into things... I can't access login page (192.168.1.1) even when I connect directly with ethernet cord (#1 light ON); I've tried soft (unplug and wait 10 sec) and hard resets (30-30-30 and just 30 and off for 30sec) numerous times without any luck. I can't ping the ip of the router either. When I have the router plugged in, I get an unidentified network and the yellow triangle. When I press the triangle and go through the motions (first it tells me to do a reset), it eventually tells me that "local area connection doesn't have a valid IP address". That's as far as I get.

Internet only works when I plug directly into the modem (which I'm doing now).

I've been researching for hours now and I'm completely stumped. I'm not a computer expert by any means, but usually I can fix common problems with some google searching. This time, no luck in any of the things I've researched. Has my router bricked somehow just from being powered off for maybe an hour or so? (then on and off for the next hour?) Thanks for your attention!

I believe I've already tried that and the router hasn't responded to it...

Something else that I've noticed that I don't know if it's relevant, is that when plugged in, the power light is always blinking. The internet light looks normal. No other lights are on, unless I plug in my desktop, but I'm not able to access the router as stated before.

I've tried everything except the last step on this page...

Seems like the TFTP method is a last ditch effort. Does anyone have any other ideas before I move onto this step?

I'm pretty peeved at this, b/c I have another wrt54g that has been working for the last 8 years, while this one gave me problems after 2... Although, one thing that I remembered doing, was trying to update the firmware, but not being able to several weeks ago. The router continued to work just fine after, so I didn't think anything of it. I just figured I would leave it. Can an incomplete upgrade of firmware lead to this problem?
