Hello,

I am from India, and I wanted to ask some questions regarding my desktop, I recently upgraded my cabinet and power supply to antec vp700p and cabinet antec gx200.

1. i use my radeon settings software to monitor my cpus speed and temp, is that reliable?

2. Before upgrading my cabinet and power supply my temp acc to radeon used to be around 70c, now its the cold season in delhi(india) atm so now my temp when comp is idle or when im surfing is around 50c-55c but when i play my games like skyrim or dragon age inquisition the temp jumps to 80c, is that normal even in cold season? todays temp where i live is around 23c btw just for info. im guessing in hot season it will reach 90c or above? thats bad right?

3. I have taken off one side of my cabinet for a little more cooling, is there anything else i can do to make it less hot? like increase my fan? i have 1 cpu fan and 1 extra fan from the new cabinet i had installed, theres room for a 3rd fan if i want too. how cna in increase my fan speed? cause im thinking if someday it reaches 90c the hardware life will severely reduce?

4. Currently i have an i5 3rd gen processor 3450 @ 3.10 ghz and graphics card amd radeon HD 5450. So im going to upgrade to i7 5th gen processor in the next month and my graphics card, can you suggest me the next best graphics card compared to my current one that will go well with my antec power supply and around the range of 10,000 indian rupees.

5. Related to my previous questions, is nvidia better or radeon with my power supply? you can suggest me either depending on what you think should be best

Thank You.

Solution
1. That is your GPU's speed and temps, not your CPU. You can install programs such as coretemp, HWmonitor (useful).
2. 80 degrees is a little hot, and 90 degrees can be usual if you own a reference say r9 290. This depends on your graphics card. In the radeon settings try turning up your fan speeds there. You can also install a program called MSI afterburner and make a custom fan curve. (do not touch overclocking settings if you are not overclocking)
For a 5450 that's a little hot, turn up fan speeds.

3. I would say personally, for a CPU under 80 degrees is fine, for a GPU under 85 is fine. I would just speed up the fans on the graphics card and see if your temps get better. Try to find a spot where you like the noise and the temps ;)...

4. The VP series is quite budget orientated, so I would not run it near it's max load. However with just 1 graphics card you should be fine.
For 10,000 rupees ~213 AUD. See if you can find an r9 270x or r9 270 for about that price. The GTX 960 is also an option.
If not direct me to an indian site where I can look.

5. If the antec PSU delivers what it advertises. Either brand would be good. However at this current time, Nvidia has better power savings.
Say a GTX 960 and r9 270x. The GTX 960 delivers similar performance but with a significant power save.
The choice is up to you and your budget.
