I found a few forums/posts on this subject but didn't want to hijack someones issues.

My evga 2.0 cooler gtx 980ti idles at 60 degrees.

I tried the suggestions from other posts.

its on 60hz monitor.
room temp is around 22-24 cels.
it has a front and side intake fan, 2 top and a back exhaust fan.
NVidia control panel is set to adaptive power.

why is it not idling at 35-45 like people say it should?

I'd sent an email to EVGA with a little bit more information about my system. It is unusual. One question, what windows are you running? Is it 10 via windows 8 upgrade ? Old installation. EVGA should help though.

And why should it be lower? For more noise? 60C does absolute nothing to the chip even if you run it for years with this temp.

I just figured it needed to be lower because I know of a few people who have the same card and idle much lower...not lower because temp is bad but because if its higher...then there must be something else in play

What's in play are people bending the original fan - temp control curve for nothing or simple lying to you. ;)
