Should i do a clean reinstall of win xp?

Hello everyone i have an old laptop and it makes a pretty loud sound everytime i use it. I want to ask if i format the entire computer then reinstall the OS would it stop the sound and make the laptop faster? Should i do it?

Should you reinstall the OS? Probably. It can't hurt.
Will it fix the issue? Completely unknown.

You also might want to blow all the dust out.

Thanks for the help guys btw last question why does when i use lightweight os like linux the laptop doesnt make noiser sound? Is it because linux use less resource which leads to less work for your cpu to do?

Lightweight linux does use less resource but it still won't solve the noise issue if the CPU usage is at 100%.
What is the laptop specification and which brand.
Some old laptop has tiny heatsink which causes the fan to work very hard.
