I mainly want to play Rainbow Six Siege, Fallout 4 and blacks ops 3.
I know fallout 4 and rainbow six both have gameworks and those are the games I play the most so I dont know if i should go with amd.
@andrewidk. Wow, that's a nice computer. You really caught me off guard with those specs. I agree that you should go with either the GTX 970 or R9 390. That very topic is the most disputed on this site. I'm personally just a little more comfortable with the 970, as I used to own the MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card. You won't quite get 60 FPS in Witcher 3 or Fallout 4, but if you turn off gameworks and GodRays, respectively, you'll be close enough for a really enjoyable experience. Watch the performance review that I pasted below.
390X is more powerful but not by much! The R9 390 is in the same price range as the GTX970 and either of those would be what I would be selecting between.
^ What's your upgrade budget? Rainbow Six Siege, Fallout 4 and blacks ops 3 are the games that you're most interested in. What resolution and settings? 1080p at ultra? What are your system's full specs, including the model # of your power supply?
Gameworks takes a heavy hit on the GPU. Even my SLI 970s can't fully utilize GW in Witcher 3 and I have to turn it off to keep FPS above 60 (at 1440p resolution and ultra quality settings).
The 390X is the better card of the two, especially at higher resolution and quality and AA settings. But at 1080p the two cards actually trade blows depending on games. I'm partial to Nvidia but would have no problem recommending an AMD card of you have a power supply that can run it (minimum of 550W and a 6-pin *plus* a 6+2 (8-pin) PCIe power cable from your PSU).

Yeah the 390X vs 970 the 390X wins if your PSU can handle it. As the 390X trades blows with the 980 it's just a better card TBH.
