lost windows 7 on data migration to ssd

hi,i have an asus eee pc 1015pem netbook and whilst migrating my os to a new ssd it failed and as a result i have lost my os(windows 7).will i need to buy a new os or can this be mitigated through microsoft?

No cloning application should take 12+ hours.
There are/were other problems.

well after leaving acronis running for about 12 hours i concluded this was never going to reach a conclusion so terminated the process,but then trying to reboot from the original drive found it would not,so i installed the new ssd into the netbook thinking all was lost.

well thats what i thought and why i was thinking about a clean install.thanks for your thoughts,... just wondering though whether i need to buy a new copy or whether its worth talking to micosoft?
