G502 DPI shift question

I just got my mouse a few days ago. I have it set to Automatic Game Detection. When I am not in a game, on the Default profile, I only have one DPI level. Yet when i press the sniper button,(putting it in G-Shift) the DPI shifts down. I have no idea why this is happening. Any ideas? Thanks

That's what it is supposed to do. It is for sniping in FPS games, or anywhere you don't need a fast twitchy response.
I have the same mouse and have only used it a couple of times.
It is mostly inconveniently located and a bit out of my reach for my hand.

I just checked the software and set the defaults on mine, 2400 dpi.
At default the sniper button does nothing.
Check your firmware under settings/g502 should be 88.2.17
Software version is 8.75.30

Are you up to date with firmware and software?

I'm at 88.2.17, but software is 8.60.313. Is there a way to use the sniper button to access the second layer of button inputs without changing the DPI? As I mentioned, I only have one active DPI setting, which is at 3200, but the G-Shift still changes the DPI. Is there a place I can see what it is changing it to?

Just realized that in the Logitech Gaming Software, click on the mouse icon at the bottom. Hover over the mouse button (G-Shift), and click on the checkmark, you can "Edit, Use Generic, or Unassign".
If its set to G-Shift it shouldn't change the dpi, "DPI Shift" does though.

Perhaps editing that button to something else might be more useful.

In any case I've learned a lot more about my mouse, and I've had it for quite awhile.

Did you remember to use the correct profile (on the top)? Logitech software defaults to the lowest profile in alphabetical order rather than putting default first (stupid, right?), so most likely you were just changing the settings for a game that falls before "default" in alphabetical order (BF3 for me). Just remember that you should first go to assign buttons screen, select the default profile, and then go to the mouse sensitivity settings

Because I don't have the sniper button set to DPI Shift. It is set to G-Shift, which should NOT change DPI, correct? That's what I think is weird. I understand that having one level shouldn't change DPI, that's why I'm confused as to why my DPI is changing while G-Shift is active.

That's actually a totally different situation! Most likely you are double binding g-shift and DPI shift to the same button (i.e. g-shifted g-shift button), and your g-shift DPI settings are different than the normal settings.
