Hi,
Just recently my computer has started randomly restarting by itself. However the weird thing about it all is that it only every restarts when I am playing one game. Call of duty black ops 3. I can play any other game for however much I like, its only ever black ops 3, when the computer crashes. The time it takes varies, sometimes I can play it for 30 minutes then it crashes, sometimes it takes 10. I need help, please!!!

What are your system specs, including power supply. I suspect not enough wattage/dirty power. Also how long have you had your system? Something may be overheating.

PSU- Thermal take Smart Series 750W
GPU- MSI Geforce gtx970
MOBO- Asrock Z77 pro 4
CPU - Intel i5 3450
G-skill ripjaws DDR3 8gb.
I thought it might be the power supply but if so why is it only restarting on one game?

It isn't power supply, it has high enough wattage, enough amps on the +12v rail, and is high quality. As far as the only game, it is relativitely new, do you notice crashes in certain ares? Eg. open and shiny, conclealed w/ lots of lights? Also, how long have you had the system, have you cleaned it in awhile?

All fans are spinning perfectly. Temperatures are perfect. As for when it crashes, its co pletely random. Sometimes its in the menu, sometimes in game. It's a whole mix of different situations, and it's happening more often now. The majority of my components are recent (within the last 6-12 months, GPU is only a couple of months). However CPU and hard drive and disk drive are all several years old I have had them for upwards or 3 years now, maybe longer.

Might be a bad install, you can try verifying the game cache if your on steam.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled it today, that didn't seem to do anything. And I veryfied the game cache on steam and it seems to have worked. Played 30 minutes so far, hasn't crashed. So that must have been the issue. Thanks guys so much for the help.

Short circuiting woudln't make sense seeing as how if that was happening, it woul be with all games. Overheating sounds more likely. Check the internet to see if there are any compatability issues with taht game and your hardware, also check if you have the most recent drivers.

So I spent all day today running stress tests on the CPU, GPU and RAM. I also checked conpadability for the games and its all fine. But with he stress testing, I tested the CPU by itself and it got to 75 or so degress and didn't restart. When I was playing it only got to 65-70. So that's not the issue. I stress tested my GPU, it got to about 80 degrees, didn't shut down, not the problem. But when I stress tested the CPU and the GPU at the same time, the computer restarted. And when I did more RAM intensive CPU stress tests, it crashed faster. So I tried running the computer off each stick of RAM individually. Didnt make a difference. Then over the past couple of hours I can a RAM stress test and diagnostic program that boots up from a USB and checks the RAM for any problems. I am completely and utterly stumpted. My next guess is the PSU. Is it possible its not getting enough power from the power point? Or its getting to much or something? Maybe its shorting out? I'm grasping on straws and will try anything.

It might be your GPU, seeing as how temperatures should go above something around 80. Try lowering the overclock of you have one.
