Cpu cooler clearance

Hello, I'm getting a Deepcool case that has up to 165mm cooler compatibility and I want to get a Cryorig h5 that is 160mm.

Buttttt, a friend of mine that is extremely good with pcs says that you need to leave about 20mm of clearance to account for the cpu.

So I'm thinking of going with a Cryorig h7.

So my questions are.
1: Would the h5 actually fit? or am I better off just going with the h7.

And 2: would the h7 be a good enough cooler to run a 6700k at stock speeds? Maybe even with a slight overclock? I want to keep the cpu really cool, that's why I wanted the h5. But would the h7 keep it cool enough?

Thank you

If a case lists cooler compatibility (hopefully accurately), it should account for all of that. If it says up to 165mm then it should accommodate coolers up to 165mm tall so the h5 should fit fine.

Either should work for a stock 6700k, how well it works for an overclock depends on the overclock settings, case airflow, ambient room temps etc specific to your conditions. All chips oc a little differently, one that requires more voltage than another will likely run a bit hotter at the same frequency.
