How to install Windows 7 if there's not enough space (barely) on the hard drive?

So I've been having a hard time fixing the failed installation of an update on my windows 7, so I decided to get a new Windows 7 disk and try to "upgrade" so I can get in the bloody thing and at least back up before formatting the whole god damn thing! But when I tried to install it it says I have 7 gigs and a change while it needs 7980 to install. Is there anyway around this? Please help, last post I made got no comments whatsoever. In a dire need here!

Remove the drive, copy the files from it on a second computer with an external drive bay, or use a Linux Live disk ( I use this one http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html ) and boot your system off that, copy the files you need from the drive to an external drive. Or just buy a new hard drive and install clean Windows on that.

Only 7GB's left on a hard drive? Time to buy another hard drive. You could delete some stuff or move it to a USB flash drive or DVD's, but really, 7GB's space left means your hard drive is probably already way over-full.
