Hi,

I'm building a PC for my parents. They only use it for basic office work and web surfing/watching videos. Here's my current build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NxM7K8 . Does it seem okay?

As mentioned in the title, they already have an Antec Sonata III case. Is it fine to reuse it even though the PSU is 6-7 years old? I know that the case has a suboptimal layout but I'm not really concerned about air flow since there will be no overclocking. I have an old GTX 560 Ti lying around in a closet which they could use.

They already have a 1 TB external HDD so the SSD should be enough. I could also reuse their old internal HDD.

I live in Finland by the way so I can't order from PC part picker, but the price for these parts would be about 380€.

You've chosen precisely what I would have. Skylake's integrated GPU is more than enough even for HD movies, 8gb DDR4 and this CPU will fly. The stock cooler of the i3-6100 is sufficient as well. Only thing you are missing, unless you already have it, is an OS and 8.1 or even 7 should be enough for them.

So you don't see an issue with reusing the case and PSU? Also regarding the OS you didn't recommend Windows 10, is it really that bad? I'm still using 7 and haven't had the chance to try 10 yet.

6-7 years is quite old for a PSU, but depending on it´s quality it may or not be worthwhile to exchange.

I´d reuse that GTX 560 TI you have as well, it´s a quite good card. The sonata case is fine.

Buying Win7/8.1 is the essentially the same as buying windows 10. You can upgrade for free (upgrade is forever) to windows 10, as long as you do it within the next 10 months. - However, if the price is the same - just get windows 10.

If PSU isn't giving you headaches then why not reuse it? It's most likely more than 200W so it will be plenty. You should generally be worried about PSU quality when using dedicated GPUs, the power required by the CPU itself is not much to worry about. For a case you could drop the motherboard on the ground for all it matters and it would still run. Windows 10 is not that bad, just don't think there would be any benefit from it for your parents, also in my eyes windows 7 or 8.1 feel much better to the touch, especially for casual users, that's just my opinion however.
