Radeon HD5700 missing text on screen

I'm not completely sure whether this is a graphics card problem or not, but here goes.

I have a Radeon HD5700 card in a PC running Windows 7, and a Dell 2405FPW display. On some web pages, such as Ebay, Paypal and Facebook, only part of the page appears on the screen, with a large part of the text missing. Most websites display OK. Are these websites using a different display method which would cause this problem?

If I do a Print Screen, the result is the same as on screen, but I don't know if this comes via the graphics card.

If the problem is the graphics card, I don't mind getting a new one, but don't want to do that and then find I still have the same problem.

Thanks for any help.

Peter

ps Graphics card drivers are up-to-date.

Yea sorry couldn't solve it for you, its a weird one. Win10 might fix it all the same as a Win7 reinstall would.

No harm in trying. Keep in mind you might have to rely on Win10 drivers if you don't have any manufacturer specific drivers and if your copy of Win7 is oem you have one month trial before your Win7 product key & motherboard ID is tied to Win10 for good. Win7 won't activate after this.

Sounds like a security setting in your browser is set fairly high blocking some of the content viewed on screen, wouldn't think its your graphic's card. Try another browser like Chrome/Firefox to see, or if using either of these two, try Internet Explorer. You'll soon know if its a setting in browser itself you're using.

Thanks, boju
The browser I am using is Firefox. I've just tried using Internet Explorer, and the result is the same - still a lot of text missing on some websites.

I don't think that's the answer - I've just tried turning off virus protection and web browsing protection in my AVG software - still the same result. It's strange that it only happens with certain websites :??:
Thanks, anyway!

How is the site displayed when text is missing, is it still all the same format?

Sometimes for me if the site isn't connecting right i get a column of text without bordering as the page hasn't loaded right. In this instance from experience it doesn't stay this way long for sites i had this, and i assume the server the site is on was having dramas.

No, the sites are displaying normally except for the missing text. I can post a screen shot if there's any way of doing that.

Yes, restarted Firefox after disabling hardware acceleration. I've also done a full refresh of Firefox, still no change.

Just tried downloading and installing Google Chrome, but that still has the same problem, so I don't think the problem is browser-specific.

Try setting another Aero theme to reset Aero. Someone i read had problems with website graphics because he didn't have a theme (no theme, no Aero) set but not sure if text would be involved as well. Something to look at i guess.

The missing text is shown as blue rectangles, but the text itself is not visible.

Thanks for all your suggestions, boju. I bet you've got more hair than I have!

I just wish I could pin it down to one source of the problem - video drivers have been reinstalled, and it's not browser-specific, so I don't know what else could be causing this. I might try upgrading to Windows 10, and see if that helps.

Thanks again.
