I have a 4 year old hdd that I have from a older computer. It still works and my question is: If i connect this to my computer can I delete everything on it instantly? I am kinda worried about malware that may be on it and I dont want it infecting my computer.

Solution
If you are concerned about malware on it. Do this, disconnect all hard drives, connect suspect Hard drive, boot windows from install DVD or USB, delete partitions, create partitions, format, shutdown computer, reconnect drives the way they were before, reboot computer just to make sure boot assignments were not changed in the bios, shutdown and install old/freshly formatted HDD.
