PCI-e 16x connection problems on Gigabyte H97-HD3

I've had this PC since the start of August last year, Has run no problems throughout that time. And I did a little cable management 2 days ago and after hooking everything back up my GPU would just display 'No signal' for a few seconds, The the monitor would go into standby mode. After trying numerous fixes that didn't work, I tried it in my second PCI-e 4x slot and what do you know! It worked like a charm. But obviously this isn't ideal at all as it's restricting my GPU'S performance.

All I need to know really is, Can this be fixed without returning the motherboard or RMA'ing it? Because this is getting on my nerves to be brutally honest.

Thanks in advance.

Did you try going back to the first slot again? I did literally the same thing a few weeks ago after dusting, GPU worked but gave me all sorts of weird lines and stuff. Pulled it out, put it back in, reconnected all. Boom worked fine.

If it doesn't I would say somehow the slot went bad, and yes you will need a new motherboard

I've tried that multiple times, The Monitor won't even display soooo.

It's annoying I haven't been able to find a concrete answer or even someone with a similar problem to mine, Is this a common thing?

It happens. Motherboards can be sensitive after all its a lot of exposed circuits. It may have been defective to begin with, maybe the slot was a little loose and 1 or 2 removals put an end to it. Heck 1 spark of static electricity that you don't even notice can fry a motherboard.

It's just that everything else is fine with no problems is what bugs me, Could I have really shocked the PCI-e slot in particular? And nothing else?

I guess I'll take it back to where I bought it from and see if the can replace it, They hopefully should, Otherwise I'll have to bloody RMA it.

I doubt it, its probably more like a bad slot or loose pin in the slot or something.
