my Setup
msi 970 gaming
amd fx8350 no oc
8 gb ram
128 gb SSD
256 gb SSD
2 Gigabyte R9 280x rev.2 oc to 1140
Crossair RM1000
1920x1080

in crossfire i get bad performance in some games. CSgo is with around 100 fps(everything on low) about the same fps as BF3(on ultra). with Crossfire disabled CSgo goes up to 150-200, with only one card on the board 250-280.
Both cards work fine, the PCIe slots are 2.0 x16 and 2.0 x8. From what I understand, that shouldn't be a big problem, around 5% not the 300%.
Would an overclock of the cpu help?
thank you

Solution
An overclock could help, a touch, assuming you have an aftermarket cooler. Some games however aren't dual card friendly. I've played games that perform worse with two cards than it does with either card alone.

Regardless, an 8350 is barely enough to run a single 280X, let alone two. I'd test a few other games to isolate your issue. Make sure your drivers are up to date of course.

I put a coolermaster 240mm watercooler in, when i got my second card, so i will try an overclock. The drivers should be up to date, I installed the the newest version i could find.

overclocking helped, now i get a little higher fps with crossfire on and more stable fps, too. Still less compared to only one card on the board. I only managed 4.8Ghz at 1.55V, so longterm i will upgrade my cpu or remove one card.
thank you
