So 8 years ago I bought this sweet pc that ran anything at ultra settings 60+ fps, recent games its not doing so great. So I was wondering what I should upgrade to make it run titles like bo2 and maybe even some bo3. Looks dont really bother me much, I would just like to play a game like bo3 at 30+ fps on medium settings. Ive upgraded it to 8g from 2g's of ram. everything else is the same. Would a new gpu help enough to play titles like bo3? or do i need a new processor ad cpu? Other questions like if my mother board even will let me upgrade these and if not what do i need to do so? not looking to spend 150-250 price range is what im going for.

If it is this Turbolink 450W PSU, it is not something you will want to push with a very powerful card.

But if it handles the 47W 8600 GT w/o issue, you should be able to use one of these 25W GT 730 (DDR5, 64 bit) cards for a major improvement in performance: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007709%204814%20600007799%20600519936%20600007797
...with minimum CPU bottleneck.

How much improvement? Quite a bit: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GeForce-GT-730-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-8600-GT/m12582vsm7659

Wow. That is a pretty ancient PC by today's standards. If you can find the make/model no. of the motherboard that Cyberpower used, I might be able to direct you to the fastest CPU the board will accept. But you'll have to buy it used someplace like ebay. AMD hasn't made CPUs for that platform for years.

The 8600 GT is a pretty weak gfx card; similar to the integrated gfx on today's newer CPUs. And I'm sure that "420W" PSU it came with is not a very good one. More than likely, it is a fake 420W only equivalent to maybe a 300W or less.

Until I know the +12V ratings for it, these GT 730 DDR5 64 bit cards would be the best I can recommend. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007709%204814%20600007799%20600519936%20600007797

TurboLinks are pretty good quality, im going to try and find the motherboard model number for you thanks for help. asus MZN - sLi is this what ur looking for? And honestly, I mainly only play games like wow, and looking into some more mmorpgs like guildwars 2. I grew up playing low settings at 10 fps on most games, so I dont really need a game to look good, as long as its running at least 30+ fps on a game like black ops 2 low settings. <Update> I dont know what the heck im talking about, if getting a better power suply for a better graphics card will help please say so. Thanks Haha

Man, read that review. That PSU is terrible for a *terrible PSU*.

My Dell Dimension E520 was built 12/2006. It scores 6892 in 3Dmark Firestrike benchmark (58%). I think GTX750Ti should run OK. They don't need PCIe power cable (most of them). I don't know about old AMD stuff though. At least they didn't have "socket of the month" like Intel. The fastest 8 year old CPUs can be pretty cheap, you already have the RAM. You have to look at 2 things on a newer GPU. You probably need AHCI "legacy" BIOS (not EUFI), and you need to decide what level of DirectX support your games require, DX9, DX11. This will determine how new a GPU you will need. GTX750Ti worked very well in my 9 year old Dell.
( The above score is with R9-285, not GTX750Ti which scored 37%.)

750ti can play GTA 5 pretty well on high (with the settings a bit tweaked).
Where did you get the 8gb DDR2 ram from? I'm trying to find one too, but I can't...

I got it from Nemix RAM. But I shop around. I buy Dell certified modules if I can find them at the normal price. Some older chipsets can't run newer high density memory modules, and the latency is fixed in the locked Dell BIOS. Crucial.com guarantees their modules to work, but they offered 667 when 800 would work. They did have the correct speed available. I've used Kingston before without issues. I'm running 4X2GB modules. If your looking for 2X4GB that would be a lot tougher. That was an uncommon size back in the DDR2 days.

BTW I tweaked my GPU and I'm at 7004 in 3Dmark Firestrike Benchmark.
