hello everyone, not too long ago i built a PC but i never ended up getting a GPU as i couldn't decided what to do (and my mind still isn't made up)

now just so you know here are the basic specs of my build currently
Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker
Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
CPU: Intel Core i7 i7-4790K
Memory: White HyperX FURY Series 16GB (2x 8GB)
PSU: Corsair AX Series AX860 860W Platinum Power Supply
Storage: Samsung 2.5-Inch 250 GB 850 EVO || WD Caviar 3TB

now for the GPU i have been cycling between these three options GTX 970, GTX 980ti or waiting until pascal, also i want a gpu that can handle games at ultra or very high with 40-60+ frames hopefully for the next 2-3 years,

now this is not a majorly important thing as im not in a rush, but i do sometimes have doubts that i will be patient enough to wait until pascal as it is still a fair bit away (also im thinking of waiting for the 970 or 980 pascal equivalent).

regardless though i appreciate any feedback or comments you may have, also if you have any questions about anything don't hesitate to ask, and thank you

Still the GPU is powerful enough for ultra 1440p , it is made for 4k gaming.

If you can afford it, get the 980ti. A faster card doesn't exist. Wait for pascal? This is more of a personal choice. It may take a while before there is a significant upgrade from the 980ti. The performance is hard to pin point we don't have any concrete information other than hbm will be used and a die shink will occur.

If you have a 1440p monitor or want to play Witcher 3 on Ultra, you'll need the GTX 980Ti to get 60 FPS. It would also be a safer bet as to being enough card in two or three years. No telling when Pascal will come out and which cards they will release first.

i have been considering of upgrading my monitor and getting a 144hz monitor or maybe a 1440p 144hz monitor. how well do you think a 980ti would run games on those,

that is a possibility, there may not be any major difference from the current top cards and pascal, but im holding on to some hope that there is some truth to when nvidia said pascal is 10x the power of the titan x,

Maybe it is but if that's true they will downgrade it, because if they really put out a card 10 times better than titan x for 400-500€ it would be bad for nvidia itself, because who would buy other GPU's from them if you have 10 times titan x performance for less money. So i'm 99% it will only be couple of frames better, like every other series so far. Not big improvements after all
