this should be a simple question, but always best to make sure.

i have these RAM sticks already

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

and was given 2 of the sticks out of this set

G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (8 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q2-32GBZL

the specs of both are the same

DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Timing 9-9-9-24
Cas Latency 9
Voltage 1.5V

are they okay to mix n match? 2 in one matching ram slot and 2 in the other. Is there any specs not normally shown that i need to be aware of that might make them incompatible? there is minor differences in the names, and the shape of the heatsinks/covers but otherwise they seem the same.

my motherboard is a Asus Z97-A

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97A/specifications/

Thanks in advance for any help.

As long as all the specs are the same you should be safe.
I would use them if they were given to me.
With G.Skill and I would assume most other brands, if the specs are the same it will all come down to name and heatsinks.

Since i didnt get a firm no, i popped the new RAM in. Looks like it works perfectly fine, memory size is reported fine and speccy shows good.

Thanks for the help guys.
