Okay so I know the xmp profile on the x99 boards ups the base clock to 125 instead of 100, does that have any negative side effects? I know on sandy bridge it could make some things screwy if you messed with the baseclock.

Also I have 3000mhz memory, but my motherboard says the most it supports is 2400mhz I know I know but it was on sale. Can I make the ram run at 3000mhz or am I stuck trying to find a way to get it to 2400mhz if I want to run above 2133mhz? Kinda ties in to the first question since if I enable the xmp it messes with the baseclock and therefore my overclock of 4.4ghz.

What motherboard is it? You need to list specs for someone to be able to help you accurately

I will try since i have haswell-e as well and run with the specs in my signature below.

That ram im sure you can hit 3000 with it but as with ALL overclocking mileage will vary greatly, i have mine set on 3000 with 1.35 volts as we speak so it is possible

If you are worried about the base clock changing just remember most motherboards let you manually set pretty much every setting.

Hand set the speed and clock and voltage yourself.

Personally I prefer tightening the timings and voltage if possible over pushing higher speeds.
