MSI GTX 970 No Signal and Onboard Graphics Not Working

Ive recently bought a msi gtx 970 and ive connected the 1x8 pin and a 1x6 pin everything is on the fans are spinning and its working, although the graphics card doesnt display to the monitor and when i switch to the onboard display it doesnt come up either.
650 w power supply
All help is appreciated, let me know if you need more info :)

When you're switching to onboard you need to remove the power from the card otherwise the BIOS automatically reverts it to PCI-e card. When you remove the PCI-e plugs from the card onboard should work.
