Hi guys I have a weird issue with my Sapphire Dual X R9 270x. Last night it was working fine but then this morning the Monitor won't boot anything. HDMI works on the TV and any other Monitor (including the HDTV that has a VGA connector) won't work with the DVI port. I'm using a VGA to DVI Adapter and I have two of them and both doesn't work when plugged in the DVI Port, I have tried both the adapters on a different computer and both worked well. Also I tried a DVI to HDMI adapter on the same port and it works, except that it appears as HDMI and I don't have HDMI on the Monitor. Everything else works fine except for the VGA/DVI port. It also works sometimes it blinks a couple of times and then goes to sleep, I got it to work again after leaving it open for about 15 minutes it detected the signal but after a few restarts it happens again. My Mobo is MSI 970 gaming and both PCI had the same result, just the HDMI was working. I tried plugging it back and forth, cleaning every slot and still the same.. My powersupply is a Thermaltake Litepower 700w I'm using it for a year now and I'd never had this issue before..
Please help. Thanks!

I wouldn't bother. It sounds like your VGA port is playing up on your monitor given the DVI port is fine on your graphics card. I would suggest getting rid of it, VGA is very outdated and the display quality is nowhere near comparable to HDMI/DVI

Yes I have tried that as well, it's actually working right now but only in 1024x768, Changing the resolution would say "Check video Cable" (or in other terms, no Signal) I'm also using the 2nd slot on my PCI and Unplugged the HDMI. Thank you for the Reply!

Fair enough. I've never heard of this before so I'm a bit confused. When was the last time you updated the drivers? Or are they automatically updated? Not sure with AMD as I have Nvidia card and they automatically update

I updated my drivers January 3 or 4 this year, AMD doesn't automatically update their drivers or notify us. All I did last night was set the Task Scheduler to shutdown the PC (about 30 minutes) before I went to bed, the thing is that I turned the Monitor off to save power because my Auto sleep was turned off. After hearing the Windows Login this morning and noticing that the Monitor was off, I pressed it on and it gave me a no signal. Just a black screen with the orange light on. At first I removed the VGA and then plugged it back in, It worked fine until when it was on the Login screen it went black again. So far Nothing is wrong with the current monitor since I haven't restarted or changed resolution. I also uninstalled the VGA and tried the Basic Adapter.. Still no dice..

Unfortunately I don't have a monitor that has a DVI port (some of them are outdated) but I have tried using the same DVI port with a DVI to HDMI cable and it worked fine.. I'm gonna request a DVI port monitor to a friend of mine see if he has one.. Thanks!

so my Video Card is okay but its being picky about my VGA Cable? Yes it was also weird since the DVI Port worked with the DVI to HDMI cable, I also don't have any DVI cables so I might buy one later. I was just worried since my video card might be giving in.. :( there's also an other DVI port just below the regular one but I don't have the right Adapter for that one so I can't try either.

I'll update this thread regarding what happens after I purchase a DVI cable.. thanks!

There's DVI-I and DVI-D for your card. Your card is fine, given there's 0 problems showing display on any other monitor, it rules out the card being the problem. I think it's your monitor in my opinion, companies are ruling out VGA completely.. Cards are no longer made with VGA ports, nor are most monitors. (Do you have any other monitors in your house that have VGA?)

thank you for the reply Josh! yes I can see that, I didn't buy new monitors since the ones that came from the shop is still working so there's no need for me to replace them. All of the monitors in here are VGA, they're 5 years old  but still functional. 90% of the computers here are mid ranged so none of them require replacement (other than mouse and keyboards) I'm the only one using a High end computer.

So I bought a DVI Cable and I found out that one of the monitors has a DVI port and I'm using that.. Problem is that its not a LED Backlit so its a bit dark... but you're right it's still functioning properly :)

Thank you for the help!

Maybe tomorrow or a couple of weeks I might get a new monitor that has a proper DVI Port.
