Is Haswell-E or Skylake compatible with DDR3

Hello,

I think it's time to upgrade (currently rocking a FX9590 cpu), however I recently upgraded my memory to 32 gigs, ddr3 -_-. Does ddr3 still work with skylake or haswell-e, do you guys know of motherboards who still support ddr3, I don't see the point in ddr4 as the cpu's support lower clocks than my 32gigs are at. Besides that higher clocks is useless for gaming anyway, so I honestly don't get the big deal about ddr4 among gamers.

Anyway thanks

Neither support DDR3. Skylake supports DDR3L which is low voltage due to the fact that Skylake has a dual IMC that runs DDR4 at 1.2V and DDR3L at 1.35V . Putting regular DDR3 1.5V or higher memory into a Skylake system can fry the IMC on the cpu. So I personally would not risk using old DDR3 on Skylake. If you do want to use DDR3L or DDR3 on Skylake you have to make sure the motherboard has the right memory slots. Most only have DDR4 slots.
