Windows 7 not installing on Intel PCI-SSD even after nvme drivers

I recently built a computer and wanted to install Windows 7 on it, the main drive is a 400Gb Intel 750 series SSD. While installing Windows it asks me to select a driver to install, after I select the Intel nvme driver it says it couldn't find a new disk to install Windows on. If I go into cmd prompt and type diskpart then list disk, only sometimes does the SSD show up. I have tried many solutions that have worked for other people but none made the SSD show up in the Windows installer. I am installing Windows on a 5Gb seagate usb drive.

System specs:

Motherboard: Asus Z170-AR
CPU: Intel 6700k
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 16Gb 2400 (2x8gb)
GPU: EVGA GeForce gtx 980 ftw
Storage: Intel 750 series SSD (400gb)

So far I have spent 15 hours trying to install windows

It might be quicker to hook up an optical drive for the occasion. You can disconnect it when you've finished the installation.

Otherwise you're in for creating custom media with your driver injected. You decide what's quicker for you.

Are you trying to install from USB? If so you need to inject the USB drivers to the install media since Windows 7 doesn't support the USB controller used in Intel 100 series chipsets. You can check this website or use google on how to do this. You can download the drivers from Asus support site for your motherboard or Intel. You can inject other drivers like this aswell.

When should I inject the drivers? Do I just put the fix in into a USB port or do I need to select it during the please choose a driver page? During that page it won't let me install a usb3 driver from my Asus driver disk. I can only install the nvme driver.


Today I booted with my Asus driver disk installed and the windows installer went to a different page after the language page. It asked me what I wanted to install, I selected windows 7 pro then I found my nvme ssd and started installing windows. When I came back it said windows couldn't find windows files and that windows installation will terminate.

You need to inject the drivers to the USB drive you are installing from before the installation. Check the link on my first post for the procedure on how to do that,
