What device should I choose?

Ok, since I am a newbie on networking, bear with me.

My house has 2 floors. The wireless router is located on the upper floor and the signal is poor to the bottom floor. I have already a LAN (RJ45) cable that goes straight from the wireless router to the bottom floor. What device do I need to connect to that cable in order to give wireless to the bottom floor as well? Access point? Bridge?

Any recommendations of devices are welcome.

Thanks!

I really wish people would use the correct term for thing. A wireless extender is a stupid name that covers so many devices including wireless repeaters which you should never use unless your only other options is no coverage at all.

What you need is called a AP. Pretty much any router can act as a AP if you do not want to buy a actual AP. You will even find youtube videos on how to use any router as a AP. You just plug this device in downstairs and it will provide wireless and the router upstairs will still do most the other functions.
