can i play a 4GB ram game with only 2GB ram on my computer

I would go for 4GB ram for 32 bit OS with 1GB video card, 5GB with 2GB card. 32 bit OS is limited to about 3GB but the GPU uses memory from the top address down to store textures, So add GPU RAM to OS RAM to get desired amount. I would highly recommend getting the 4GB RAM. Do you have a 256mb GPU (hint hint).
