I have just recently formatted my laptop, a Lenovo y580 running Windows 7 Home Basic (it came with the laptop). The OS used to work fine for up to 3 years.
However, after re-installing windows 7, I found myself unable to install any antiviruses, I've tried AVG, Avira and Avast, and got stuck during the installation phase.
I have tried running everything as Administrator, running in compatibility mode etc. No luck.
Avira error msg: Service 'Avira Service Host ' (Avira.Service.Host) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
AVG in particular displayed an error code of 0xa0018fa6 as soon as i opened the installer. Avast installer refused to start and sat in the background, using up RAM even after 20+ mins.
Nvidia Driver installation failed right after scanning.
I've tried to install Wacom tablet drivers on my pc as well, and the installer stopped working as soon as i clicked 'accept", featuring an app-crash. Here are details of the crash:

Steam faced problems displaying the steam market, shop, inventory, basically everything except my games library. However downloading games through the google chrome browser still works.
I have updated my drivers the best i can, but still no luck. Windows Update got stuck at 'looking for updates', even through i am getting up to 7MBps download speed on steam.
After trying to upgrade to windows 10, the setup will finish downloading the 3gb worth of files, and it will fail during the installation phase.
Apparently even the technician at the PC repair shop is at a loss as to the problem Thus, any help regarding this issue is greatly appreciated.
