I have an MSI Z-97 G-45, Zotac Gtx 770 and an I7 4770k put together, with an Ace 700 watts PSU. The PSU ha only 4 pin male cable(12v), but on the mobo there is an 8 pin female connector. Is it fine to use a 4to8 converter or am I better off with a new PSU? What makes the one different to the other?

Solution
You are better to buy other PSU for your i7 with gtx770. Like the XFX TS 650W 80+ Gold or even the XFX P1-750G-TS3X The Ace brand is not the good one, the gtx770 requires at least 600W PSU with 42 Amp on the +12 rail.
