With some changes, I was able to make your system cheaper, all while stepping up to a 5820k.

MSI Z97 Krait Edition will meet your color requirements, and is a fairly decent board. The ram you chose, does not. I would swap it out for cas 9 Gskill snipers @1866. That monitor is quite expensive. There are other models, with same resolution and refresh rate, for less.

Would you mind showing me these cheaper monitors?

You got a bad price/performance ratio going there.

I tweaked it without changing it too much.

If the price is somewhat important, you could easily shave this down to around 2400 USD without losing major performance.
NB included lightning fast SSD M.2 Drive from the award winning 950 Pro series off Samsung.

Yes it would easily accomodate your 2K screen plus some. 980TI is actually 4K ready - however I advice sticking with 2K (1440p).
There is a ton of good monitors out there. I´d personally also choose a different monitor - depending on your budget and the intended use, I´d look for either a better priced monitor, or a G-sync monitor.

The monitor I have selected has G-Sync possibilities, but if you know of any cheaper options that are 2560x1440 with G-Sync please let me know.
