Hello guys. I recently purchased an Asus GeForce GTX 750 ti. I used to play league of legends just fine with my old GeForce 8500GT on low. Now I can't play league on low or anything else without MAJOR frame rate issues. Here is my build:

Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Asus M2N - SLI Deluxe MB
AMD Phenom Black Edition 2.4ghz
ASUS GeForce GTX 750 ti OC Edition
6GB DDR2 ram
600W PSU

*Gpu is connected via a molex 2x4pin to 6pin adapter. All drivers up to date.

Is there anything here that would truly effect my fps? Or is it a league software issue? Thanks in advance!

Solution
New motherboard, ram, CPU, and possibly windows. Everything else can be reused. This would be a vast improvement, over what you have, and gives you some upgrade capability, as it is the latest generation hardware.

I would say the issue is possibly driver related. I would uninstall and reinstall the latest, from Nvidia. The fact that you had to use a molex connector, for external power, is concerning, though. Quality power supplies come with the needed connections, for graphics. It is possible that it is not outputting the rated amount of wattage, slowing down your gaming performance.

I have uninstalled all drivers using a software tool recommended on this site. reinstalled the drivers via "Geforce Experience" software. running league on even low graphics still leaves me at 22-30 max fps. I have a 600W power supply, could it really be that? I seems like it should be more than enough to power my gpu even through a molex, but I'm no expert.

A side note: common tasks such aas internet browsing and OS navigating seem to be noticeably slow on the uptake. scrolling web pages and such are "laggy" Is this connected to the issue I'm having with gaming?

Also, if it is indeed the PSU can you recommend a new PSU given the parts I have?

The fact that you had to use molex adapters makes me say it needs to be changed regardless, as it is not a quality unit. There is more to PSU, than wattage. Gauge of wire used, efficiency, and the big one, capacitors used. For you, an XFX 550w would be plenty, and give you upgrade room. I would check your CPU temps, while you are at it. Make sure there isn't any cabling getting into any fans.

SO I recently purchased a Corsair CX600 PSU. I have installed it and everything. I am still having FPS issues dropping into the 20fps and at this point I am lost. I dont see any reason why I should be having issues. Here is my build again:

ASUS M2N SLI Motherboard
AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition 2.4ghz
Asus Geforce GTX750 TI 2GB OC Edition
6GB DDR2 Ram
Corsiar CX600 PSU

Could you please elaborate? What about my ram config is bad? Why was my PSU choice so poor? Do I need a new motherboard? or new Processor? I know little about the in's and out's of this kind of stuff. I dont want to keep putting money into this rig if buying a new one is better. I've already spent $200 between the new GPU and PSU. Please help. I truly appreciate it.

P.S. I have already used this tool to clean out old drivers and install the new one from Nvidia. Unless you mean for me to do it again?

Cx 600 may not be the best but should be sufficient for a 750ti. What phenom processor do you actually have? Judging by the fact you say it's 2.4ghz it might be a phenom 1.

Wondering if he's actually having a cpu bottleneck with his 750ti? If so good news is an Athlon ii x4 can be found on ebay relatively cheaply.

Yes it is in fact a phenom 1. I purchaed the CX600 mainly due to the 40amps on the +12V thinking that was plenty. So could it be my CPU? Also I have ASUS GPU Tweak and I dont think there is anything wrong with my temps. My GPU temp is at 32C while not playing league.

Just a note, my overall computer perforance seems to be slowed . It's not just league and the fps issue. I have mentioned this before.

I can agree about the dual channel ram. But the cx 600 should not blow your system up with that card, just be aware you may want to upgrade it before getting a better card later.

Not so sure on the new board and ram bit. Back in the day, you could run an am3 chip in an am2 board with a bios update if your bios supported it. I had a gigabyte m57sli-s4 board, it was an am2 board, but I ran an Athlon ii quad on that board for a while with ddr2.

So you might check and see what cpu your board can take and pick up one on ebay used. You'll probably need to update the bios on your board though. But if you could even get an Athlon quad or a phenom 2, then you might be able to make your system last just a little longer until you do a bigger upgrade. Look at the support lay I think your board cab take Athlon quads and phenom 2 quads, so you may be able to rig it to get by.

With bios update, you can run some Phenom II chips. Here is the CPU support list, for your board. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M2NSLI/HelpDesk_CPU/

They are still quite old, but are much better than what you have. Personally, I would get a more up to date system, instead of throwing more money into an old one, if at all possible.

Thank you so much for that explanation. I actually have a Asus M2N SLI-Deluxe motherboard if that makes a difference? But if not, are you saying I should be running better ram? In other words, in your opinion, would would my best option here? Will a new Motherboard, CPU and ram be more expesive than buying a new rig? I dont have much to spend, so I'm looking for my BEST option considering my finacial limitations. If I can return the PSU and get a different one I will, But if not ...you tell me?? lol I really appreciate all the help!

So, If I'm hearing correctly with my limited knowledge of all the jargon, my MB supports DDR2 ONLY and certain types of configurations that are too old, which is not ideal for my GPU and my PSU? And my PSU is not ideal for my GPU or my MB? So in conclusion, I should consider either buying a different PSU, and a better CPU that is compatible with my old MB, or starting over all together?

It depends what board and cpu you want. Figure around 200 depending what you get, plus ram is going to run 40-50 for about 8gb. Your current board can support the chips he listed, so if you wanted to, as an incremental step, pick up one of those on the cpu support list, update the bios and run that for a while until you can afford a new board, cpu ram etc.

CPU support list, for your board, isn't much different than the other. An old Phenom II X4 945 is the best that you can do. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M2NSLI_Deluxe/HelpDesk_CPU/

So considering my original problems (league of legends fps and generally sluggish computer performance) replacing my CPU with a better one, will resolve this? This is all for the sake of playing League and other games like Civilization V. This rig was a gift to my gf who plays league mostly. I want, above all else to make this a machine she can run league on at max and still enjoy other games also. Doesn't have to be a monster machine for now. That will be on her shoulders down the road.

I see, so i'd be going with a different chip set all together. With this setup I imagine my PSU is all good? If I choose to just upgrade the CPU as you listed, how would that effect my original problems (league of legends fps and overall computer performance issues)

Phenom II x4 945 is definitely capable of supporting LoL. You are forced to look at Ebay for them, though. The original Phenom was a horrible CPU. They were actually slower than Athlon 64 X2. I remember being quite disappointed, when they were released. I had an X2 3600+, at the time. I ended up ditching AMD and moved up to a Core 2 quad based Xeon.

I'm hearing more and more that Intel chip sets are far better? So, in summation: by purchasing this Phenom II x4 945, and keeping everything else I have currently I will see much better performance overall? Again my MAIN CONCERN is my gf being able to run LOL at max (60fps ideally), and be able to enjoy other titles decently until SHE can afford to upgrade further.
When that time comes will suggest the setup you listed. Assuming I dont cave and just do it myself for her lol.

Can't speak to LoL specifically, but I used to have an AM2 board running an Athlon x2 5000+ or something of that nature, and upgraded it to an Athlon ii x4 640 because I had gotten Battlefield Bad Company 2 and a new video card, and the dual core just was not cutting it anymore. The quad improved things and least made things liveable until I eventually did a full upgrade a year or 2 later. So for me it was a good upgrade.

Here ya go. Here's the hookup.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-945-3GHz-SOCKET-AM3-Quad-Core-HDX945WFK4DGM-Processor-/111886968869?hash=item1a0cfba825:g:0asAAOSwpzdWqAir

50 bucks. All kinds of them on there for 40-60 bucks, just check the feedback and also maybe see if they take returns.

To login up there, do you think he needs to spring for a new cooler as well or will the one from the old phenom 1 suffice?

Phenom II will have no problem with LoL. The 945 isn't much slower than a 965, and the 750ti is faster, than a 650ti. The problem that may arise are other titles. Newer titles are far more demanding, and the PhII may struggle.
