Can a corrupt HDD rename files?

Hello, for a while now I've had this corrupt HDD on my MacBook Pro late 2011 17", yesterday, everything was running quite normal, but I started my computer today and two files were renamed to a random input, such as my "Videos" folder was renamed to, "-=['cqsKL;", and along with a few others. So, can a failing drive start renaming files or at one point did I just happen to do this somehow? Thanks!

Side note/Edit: My CPU went from average 40C(Fan RPM at 2000) to average 80C(with fan speed 100% at 6200RPM) for some reason. Also, my total RAM installed is at 8GB, and with only Safari open, I have 400-600MB left, this is odd. I know these aren't related to a failing HDD, but it's odd that this is happening as well as my corruption issues.

Solution
If your file system is having issues, there may be some odd things happening but that is usually done when you try to fix the issues. I have seen corrupt files named funny things.

Why are you using a hard drive that is failing anyway? Hopefully you have made backups of your files and settings.
