Starcraft II low fps on late game

Hi everyone! I've been searching a lot on this "low fps" on Starcraft II (Legacy Of The Void, last patch, 3.1.1), cause I'm thinking of upgrading my pc, but i can't really find an answer to the low fps, I think it may be my processor, as many people say SC II takes a lot of the cpu's, when there's a lot of units. Mine is a AMD FX-8150, and the upgrade for that I'm thinking about the Intel's i5 4690k, and motherboard Z97, for future overclocks. In game i get 60 fps normal at early game, but as the game advances my fps slowly decreases to 50, 40, 30, and even 15 and 2v2. I already checked temps but those look fine, CPU at max. 40ºC (104ºF) and VGA at about 55ºC (131ºF). But i don't know if it is a problem, the GPU and CPU usage when playing are low, about 30% CPU and 15% GPU.

Ty very much!!

PC specs:

Mobo: ASUS M5A88-M
Memory: 4x4GB KINGSTON HYPER X Blu 1600MHz DDR3
CPU: AMD FX-8150 @ stock speed
Cooling: CORSAIR H80i
VGA: NVIDIA GTX 780
Monitor: 1080p
Power Suply: SEVENTEAM 600w

Solution
I think the problem is concurrent with many of AMD's CPUs because starcraft is very single-core intensive game, which is what FX cpus don't really like all that much.

The decreasing performance over time is likely because the number of units that the game has to process increases, making the CPU struggle more and more.

Upgrading to an intel CPU is a good option, the i5 4690K/6600K should fix most if not all your problems with starcraft.

Yea, i think that's the better option too. Ty very much, I'll buy the i5 4690k, and a Z97, and I'll post a response message after I test it. Ty very much!!

Oh and also, could it be a software problem? I found many outdated PCI, and some other drivers, with the program Driver Fusion, but the free version doesn't allow us to update them, do you know any good driver updater program?

Could be worth a shot, I don't really know any good driver update programs as I just download the drivers myself so I know exactly what I'm getting.

Though I have to ask you to test something to me so I can be sure of whether or not it's the CPU that's the problem

Open up task manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE) and go start up starcraft, play until the lategame (Or open up a replay if that has the same effect) and check task manager. Are your first few cores utilized to 100%?

Oh, i was replaying, it has the same effect, i updated some drivers with Driver Booster, from iOBit, very good though. But i was monitoring the cores with msi Afterburner, many cores oscilate very much, like between 20% and mabye 85%, in a short period of time, like they keep oscilating while I'm in-game although the "main core" usage remain below 35%.

Fascinating, Seems to be the computer struggling to shift the load between the cores.

Nah, It's basically just on full load.

You may want to check up on other forums to be sure though.

But if i change it to the i5, the problem should be solved?

I am almost certain that the upgrade to the i5 would solve your problem.

yeah, thats probably better and easier than try to "fix" my fx-8150

Hi, so I've bought the i5 4690k and Z97M-D3H from Gigabyte, and we could say it solved basically all my problems. I did a basic OC, so it's running on 1.155V @4.3Ghz. So, back to the testings, I didn't had the same replay as I was testing before (with my fx-8150) but since that was a 2v2 game and in the final battle i had 13-17 fps, and now with the i5, in a 4v4 on the final battle i have about 45-50 fps, so I think i can call the topic pretty much solved. Oh, and im going to give solution to kwa-e since he answered me befor ok chilly2468? But ty very much you 2 for the support!!
