I'm building a computer for my grandma. She just browses the web/watches youtube and uses simple programs like Microsoft office. I want to get her something that is able to multitask pretty efficiently. She has an oldlaptop right now that freezes up when you try to open multiple pages, or even load simple programs.

So would the FX-4350 be better than the FX-6300? Or would you guys even recommend something like an APU or even the Pentium G3258?

My budget for CPU + GPU is $150 total.

Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you ^_^

If all she is doing is office work, grab an amd apu quad with a reasonable aftermarket cooler. That will give her decent graphics for videos etc, and the quad will be enough for surfing the Web, office docs etc. You can get a cheap ssd in a 240gb size for around 65-70. Grab one of those, it will make the system seem to fly. For what she will do that will be cheap enough, allow for a few years of multitasking/Web browsing. Not like she's going to game.

I don't have a motherboard yet. I can't choose one because if I go FM2+ I need an APU and FX needs an AM3+. I have some of the other parts. All together the build comes out to around 500ish for me.

Yeah an intel need a different one yet. You need to decide what CPU you want. An APU or a Skylake i3 with the latest IGP would be fine. The Skylake would be the lowest power (and coolest running) choice. But you need DDR4. You don't NEED and SSD, but it does make even a mid-range CPU seem fast.

For all she's doing just get a Pentium G3258 + an H81 or B85 motherboard (whichever is cheapest). Most likely it will be the cheapest combo of all you mentioned.

$39.99 after rebate and has a current BIOS which supports the G3258 out of the box. G3258 is $69.99 but is often on sale for $10-$20 less. If you're near a MicroCenter they have them for $49.99 in store.
