Hi tom's hardware. Just new here. Need guide guys.

I have the new steelseries siberia 800/H wireless headphone. My question is is the AsusXonar DGX compatible with the h wireless transmitter?
I dont have an optical output on my z97 gaming 5 msi mobo thats why Im getting a soundcard to take advantage of the digital surround of the h wireless. So is Xonar dgx would work?

Solution
Any wireless or USB driven headset has a sound card built in within the headsets inline cable, the headset wireless base station/transmitter or the point at which it's connected to the system. So in essence all you sound processing is going to take place bypassing a dedicated sound card be it onboard, bundled or on a dedicated riser card.

That being said the Asus Xonar DGX will benefit you if you went with a headset that was purely off the analog connections. To add more food for thought, how do you reproduce surround sound off a stereo input on your transmitter? Simple, it's virtual upmixing and there is nothing stated about having 3 drivers in each ear cup if it did since I cant find it reviewed with such.

My best advice at this...

My best advice at this point would be to go and buy a headset that is analog and can connect off the ALC1150 audio onboard your Z97 Gaming 5...wait a minute, are we talking about a Gigabyte board or the MSI version?

big time bump...

I have exactly the same board, the MSI Z97 Gaming 5, and was horrified to find out it didn't have the SPDIF Toslink audio out, after buying the Siberia 800's.
I suppose it's a little bit of Steel Seires' fault, though, because they really hide the fact you can only do 5.1 with the SPDIF connection.

Either way, I just installed a Xonar DGX 5.1 to try to get 5.1 audio working, and so far it's a no go.

As far as I can tell it's because the Siberia 800 box needs a DTS signal, and the Xonar only puts out PCM.

Gonna hafta try something else it seems :(
